As a college student in today’s world, I often struggle with the thought of the future. By the time I turn 20 I’ll be just about $100,000 in debt. And that’s only for two years of college, I’ve got two more to go. So it scares me to think about the possibility of not getting a job. And not just a job, but a career.
Hofstra offers a program for journalism students to complete a bachelors and a masters degree in 5 years. So, if I was planning on going on to get a masters, this would make it faster and cheaper. However, it’s still adding more money to my debt pile. So, is it worth it?
Some journalists say having a bachelors and a masters in journalism just put you ahead of the competition which can never hurt you. But other journalists don’t even have a bachelors in journalism, never mind a masters. And have therefore said it is a waste of time and money.
I have a little time to decide whether or not I want to apply for the program. I just keep going back and forth so I need some advice!
Should I or shouldn’t I?
